I painted Gaia’s Spirit on my back porch one summer afternoon, inspired only by the energy that took charge of my own inner spirit. I soon saw on my canvas a divine figure. Because I was in the Lord's sunshine and fresh air, a soft breeze swimming across the porch, green fields of corn and the forest before me, I thought Gaia’s Spirit was an appropriate name for the painting. Standing before Gaia’s Spirit is soothing and comforting. The heavenward movement of the figure grounded in Gaia’s energy add a spiritual dimension to the painting.
